Holidays in Spain
This page gives a summary of the types of holidays that are available for the British family or couple. These range from active outdoor purtuits to lazy days by sea or pool.
Beach holidays
Select rom a wide range of beaches along the coast of the costa del sol. Rent a sunbed and laze in the sun, take time out to eat and drink at the seaside restaurants and bars .
Watersport vacations
The coastal waters of the Costa del Sol are some of the cleanest around the Mediteranean sea. The main holiday resorts for water sports range from waterparks, pedalos, water skiiing, diving, scuba, snorkelling, surfing, yachting and sailing. There are diving and snorkelling schools in Estepona with surfing in Fuengirola. There is a waterpark in Torremolinos and Mijas. Scuba diving and yacht/boat hire is available in the Marina at Benalmadena and Los Boliches, Fuengirola.
Golf holidays
Andalusia and its resorts has the by far the most golf courses in Europe and is sometimes nick named Costa del Golf. For more information contact the Spanish Tourist board.
Cycling holiday
Most of the resorts around the Costa hire out bicycles from mountain bikes, racing bikes to tour bicycles
Walking and hiking in Spain
The seasons of spring and autumn are the best times to explore the mountaines or coastal paths of the south coast of Spain and National parks in Malaga. Tourist walking maps and routes can be purchased at the various shops in the resorts or in specialist shops in the UK.
Horse riding
Horse trekking is available inland in some of the smaller villages, away from the spanish coastline. There are horse riding centers in Estepona, San Pedro and in Las Chapas between Marbella and Fuengirola.
National Spanish holidays
Spain has various holidays such as all Saints day, fiestas and various religous holidays. During these times various businesses , services and banks will be closed. The following gives a list of some of the holiday dates in Spain :
